01 / MATCH YOUR MODEL

Confirm this applies to your appliance.

  • Electric ranges using the BAKE / TEMP-TIME arrows / START / CANCEL control family documented in Whirlpool manual W11314863A, pages 4 and 10. Only canceling delayed start or completing an unstarted Bake selection. Display must work and controls must already be unlocked; excludes Demo mode, self-cleaning locks, gas ovens, dead displays, and internal faults. Confirm the manual matches your specific model.

Representative educational geometry, not manufacturer CAD or certification. Controls, access points and parts vary. Your exact model manual takes priority.

02 / SAFETY FIRST

Read this before starting.

  • Use only with matching manual and controls; locked, Demo, self-cleaning, dead-display, and fault branches stop.
  • No unlock/demo instructions: source manual gives differing lock-key guidance across sections, so those procedures are intentionally excluded.
  • No breaker resets, electrical testing, panel removal, oven movement, gas work, or touching heating elements.
  • Empty oven of stored items before operation; do not leave food waiting during troubleshooting.

03 / CHECK THE SYMPTOM

Choose the right next step.

  • Match the documented W11314863A control family before using Cancel, Bake, TEMP/TIME and START. Other models may work differently.
  • A control lock, Demo mode, dead display, damaged door or fault message requires a different model-specific procedure. This guide does not show unlock or Demo-mode sequences.

04 / PREPARATION

Have the right items ready.

  • Whirlpool control-guide W11314863A, matching your oven’s buttons and display
  • An appropriate target temperature for the Bake check

05 / THE PROCEDURE

Work through the checks.

  1. Match the controls. Use this sequence only for the Whirlpool control layout shown, with Bake, Temp and Time arrows, Start, and Cancel. Your model’s manual must match before you follow these steps.
  2. Cancel the waiting program. If a delayed start is set, press Cancel to clear it. If the display is blank, locked, in Demo mode, or showing a fault, stop and seek model-specific help.
  3. Select Bake. With the oven empty of stored items and the door closed, press Bake. On this control, the starting temperature is three hundred fifty degrees Fahrenheit; selecting Bake alone does not start heating.
  4. Set the temperature. Use the Temp and Time arrow keys to select the temperature you need. Keep oven vents clear, and do not touch an element to check whether it is warm.
  5. Press Start. Press Start to begin preheating. A flashing Push reminder means Start still needs pressing. Leaving the selection unstarted for one minute cancels it on this control family.
  6. Watch the preheat result. The display rises with temperature, then sounds a preheat tone. If it stays cold or reports a fault, press Cancel and arrange service. Leave electrical testing to professionals.

06 / VERIFY THE RESULT

Test safely and watch the result.

  • Use the model’s preheat indication without touching an element or reaching into a hot oven.
  • Cancel and arrange service if the oven stays cold or displays an error. A preheat indication alone does not verify temperature calibration.

KNOW YOUR LIMITS

Stop and get qualified help.

Stop if your model does not match, the manual conflicts with these steps, isolation is uncertain, or damage makes access unsafe. Do not bypass a safety device or open parts beyond this guide’s scope.
