To stop a persistent spout drip on this manual Moen Arbor 7594C, replace its 1255 cartridge kit, including the retaining nut. Confirm your version first. Close both supply valves. Open the faucet through hot and cold to verify no flow. Stop for failed shutoffs, corrosion, or moving pipe, and call a plumber. Cover the drain. Remove the handle plug, loosen the screw with a three-thirty-seconds-inch hex key, and slide off the handle. Unscrew the dome, then the retaining nut. Pull the cartridge straight out. Clean with a nylon brush. For Moen’s controlled flush, shield the opening with a large bowl directed into the sink. A helper briefly cracks each supply separately, then closes both. Verify flow has stopped and remove trapped water. Align the new cartridge’s three ribs with the body grooves and seat it fully. Install the new nut hand-tight, then another quarter-turn, as Moen specifies. Refit the dome and handle, secure the screw, and replace the plug. Restore supplies slowly. Run hot and cold, close the handle, and inspect for drips or leaks.

01 / MATCH YOUR DESIGN

Confirm this is your version.

  • Manual side-handle Moen Arbor 7594C using the 1255 cartridge kit, including its new retaining nut, and the threaded dome shown.
  • Verify the exact model, version and parts diagram before ordering. Sensor-operated versions and different cartridges, retainers or handle styles need their own instructions.
  • The controlled open-body flush needs a large bowl directed into the sink and a helper at the supply valves. Do not attempt it if you cannot contain the water and shut each supply promptly.
  • The general Moen threaded-dome guide also covers 4000/40002 cartridges. Stop if the fitted cartridge differs from the 1255 shown here.

02 / CHECK BEFORE BUYING

Find the source of the problem.

  • Confirm a persistent drip from the spout with the handle closed, rather than a hose, body or supply-connection leak.
  • Check the model-specific troubleshooting first. A damaged valve body or failed shutoff is outside this cartridge replacement.

03 / PARTS & PREPARATION

Have the right tools ready.

  • Confirmed Moen 1255 cartridge kit with new retaining nut
  • 3/32-inch hex key and correctly fitting hand tools for the retaining nut
  • Nylon brush, large bowl, towels and drain cover
  • Helper for the brief controlled flush; eye protection

04 / THE PROCEDURE

Work through the repair.

  1. Confirm the cartridge kit. To stop a persistent spout drip on this manual Moen Arbor 7594C, replace its 1255 cartridge kit, including the retaining nut. Confirm your version first.
  2. Isolate both supplies. Close both supply valves. Open the faucet through hot and cold to verify no flow. Stop for failed shutoffs, corrosion, or moving pipe, and call a plumber.
  3. Remove handle, dome and cartridge. Cover the drain. Remove the handle plug, loosen the screw with a three-thirty-seconds-inch hex key, and slide off the handle. Unscrew the dome, then the retaining nut. Pull the cartridge straight out.
  4. Clean and flush safely. Clean with a nylon brush. For Moen’s controlled flush, shield the opening with a large bowl directed into the sink. A helper briefly cracks each supply separately, then closes both. Verify flow has stopped and remove trapped water.
  5. Index and fit the new cartridge. Align the new cartridge’s three ribs with the body grooves and seat it fully. Install the new nut hand-tight, then another quarter-turn, as Moen specifies. Refit the dome and handle, secure the screw, and replace the plug.
  6. Restore, test and inspect. Restore supplies slowly. Run hot and cold, close the handle, and inspect for drips or leaks.

05 / VERIFY THE RESULT

Test operation and check for leaks.

  • Restore both supplies slowly and run hot and cold.
  • Close the handle; check the spout for drips and inspect the handle/body and under-sink connections.

KNOW YOUR LIMITS

Stop and get qualified help when…

  • Either supply does not isolate; pressure or flow remains
  • Severe corrosion, moving pipe, damaged valve body or seized parts
  • Cartridge version, indexing or retaining hardware does not match
  • You cannot safely shield and control the open-body flush, or leaks remain after testing

Use your actual parts prices, tool costs and an all-in local service quote when deciding. A cheaper repair is not worth unsafe isolation or water damage.
